1. Students will connect and apply scholarship about voting and democratic engagement in the construction and implementation of campus voting plans as a way to learn about and practice democratic engagement.
2. Students will demonstrate the ability to develop and execute a research project to address a question of political interest as value. Specifically students will:
   1. Develop and justify a research question of political interest and value.
   2. Design and employ appropriate research methodology to generate data to evaluate the research question.
   3. Analyze and interpret data used to evaluate the research question.
3. Students will demonstrate in written reflective essays, the ways in which their classroom learning is applied in real-world decision making situations they experienced while completing an internship.
4. Students will demonstrate the ability to interpret quantitative data including variable conceptualization and measurement, descriptive statistics, cross-tabulations, comparisons of means, and basic statistical inference. Students will be able to conduct the following data analyses using SPSS:
   1. Descriptive statistics/measures of central tendency.
   2. Cross-tabulations.
   3. Comparison of means.
5. Students will demonstrate the skills of policy writing by producing an issue brief, opinion editorial, policy history, and/or legislative testimony as a means of engaging in the policy making process.
